" La résurrection du Christ nous assure qu'aucune puissance adverse ne pourra jamais détruire l'Église", a déclaré le pape Benoît XVI à Lisbonne, après avoir précisé, dans l'avion de Rome, que la plus grande menace pour l'Eglise, c'est le péché qui se trouve à l'intérieur d'elle-même.

Il a appelé à un renouveau de la misison.

 Une impressionnante ovation s'est élevée de la foule : le pape s'apprêtait à donner la bénédiction finale lorsque des dizaines de milliers de personnes l'ont acclamé, après quelque deux heures de célébration, ce mardi soir, lors de la messe présidée sur l'esplanade du "Terreiro do Paço". L'ovation a repris après la bénédiction finale : 'Vive le pape !'

Benoît XVI est attendu mardi au Portugal pour une visite de quatre jours notamment destinée à marquer une série d'anniversaires liés aux apparitions de 1917 à Fatima, célèbre lieu de pèlerinage apprécié par son prédécesseur.

Ce voyage au Portugal constitue un vrai pèlerinage à Fatima qui commence par Lisbonne et s'achève à Porto.

A Fatima, le pape participera à la prière du chapelet, à la procession aux flambeaux le 12 mai, et présidera la messe du pèlerinage international le 13 mai.

 Ce séjour comporte trois grands rassemblements pour une messe présidée par le pape : le 11 mai à Lisbonne, le 13 mai à Fatima et le 14 mai à Porto.
